History

Detroit City Lacrosse is Detroit’s first lacrosse program. In 2009 the founder of Detroit City Lacrosse hosted the first ever Detroit lacrosse camp for local boys and girls in partnership with [Think] Detroit PAL and Warrior Lacrosse. The camp was held again in 2010.

In 2012 Detroit Sports Dreams was founded, the predecessor to Detroit City Lacrosse. Detroit Sports Dreams, was an organization focused on the development and participation of urban youth in non-traditional sports. The game of lacrosse was one of those foundation programs. By partnering with the top sports organizations, commissioning bodies and youth programs, Sport Dreams’ goal was to provide the highest quality of sports education and opportunities to interested youth.

Over the past five years, Detroit Sports Dreams partnered and participated in youth programs and events in the city of Detroit. These included Metro Detroit Youth Day, Patton Recreational Center and ARISE Detroit Neighborhood Day.
